Yahoo Hacked, Account Credentials Leaked

Yahoo has been the victim of a massive hacking by a currently unknown group, though Ars Technica reports that hacker group D33Ds Company may be responsible.

As a result of the attack, over 453,492 Yahoo accounts (login names and passwords) have been leaked.

D33Ds Company is quoting as saying, “”We hope that the parties responsible for managing the security of this subdomain will take this as a wake-up call, and not as a threat. There have been many security holes exploited in Web servers belonging to Yahoo that have caused far greater damage than our disclosure. Please do not take them lightly. The subdomain and vulnerable parameters have not been posted to avoid further damage.”

It is strongly recommended that all Yahoo users change their passwords as a safety measure.
